Opinions started as Randy Staat's instrumental laptop demos, collaborating with vocalist Nik O'Hara.

After releasing a demo in late 2017, the band formed from a group of close friends out of Oakland and LA.

Influenced by post-punk records and inspired by many trips up and down Highway 5.
